Nikita Lutikov NIKITA LUTIKOV (RUSSIA), CLARINET

Nikita Lutikov was born in 1991 in St. Petersburg. He began studying piano in 1998 and in 2002 entered the Music Lyceum at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, where he now studies clarinet with Yuri Bolshiyanov.

In 2003 Mr. Lutikov was awarded the grand prize at the Art of the 21st Century international competition in Kiev (Ukraine), and in 2005 he was awarded the grand prize at the Moscow Young Clarinetists and Wood Ensembles Open Competition. Also that year Mr. Lutikov was granted the prestigious Yuri Temirkanov Award, and in 2006 he won the first prize at the Fifth International E. Mravinsky Youth Competition in St. Petersburg. Mr. Lutikov also performed at a festival organized by the Foundation of Vladimir Spivakov, took part in a large concert tour of Switzerland with the Music Lyceum students, and appeared on the stages of St. Petersburg Philharmonia, Capella, and Conservatory.

In 2007 Mr. Lutikov won first prize at the LISMA Foundation International Music Competition in Albertson (U.S.).
